Libby Patterson was born in Yazoo City, Mississippi in 1936. She was a graduate of Mississippi College- the institution where her crowning academic success, her D in Botany, was achieved.  After college, she married Donald Patterson, and together they had four children. Her hobbies included shopping for herself and others (against their will) exclusively at garage sales, quizzing her grandchildren on when they were going to be married, and being crowned the Queen of her Methodist volunteer group, UMCOR. Libby was frequently absurd, quick to laugh (likely at her own jokes), and brought humor and wit to any event that was smart enough to invite her. This award is intended to recognize and reward a student who carries that same ability.
